Turn On The Subtitles
This project was a partnership between Twinkl Kids’ TV and the Turn On The Subtitles campaign, for a video to raise awareness of the positive impact the use of subtitles can make on a child’s literacy.
The brief was to create an engaging video using the TOTS brand style, which makes use of white text on black bars to emulate the look of subtitles on television, with key words highlighted in a range of bright & bold colours. The brand book also featured small symbols in these colours for illustration and emphasis. My concept for the animation made use of the text and symbols in tandem, conveying the key points in the message using creative typography & minimalist animation. The result is a video that is visually engaging and uncompromisingly clear, using the medium of subtitles themselves to reiterate the message.
